Each god represents a different aspect of the ride: Pluto represents the two inversions, Minerva the launches and boosts, Mercury stands for speed, Neptune for height and Jupiter represents the drop. The gods referenced in Pantheon’s theme are Pluto, Neptune, Mercury, Minerva and Jupiter. “ Pantheon” combines the might of five Roman gods in one record breaking display of strength, speed and power. Austria’s highest drop on a Flume Ride is followed by a camel back hump before experiencing an impressive splash. On top of the lift, the boats are back in their forward position, before whizzing down the drop reaching top speeds of approx. The lift takes the boats right to the top while revealing stunning views over the park. The boats then drop backwards into the next floating section, making their way to the highlight of the ride, a 17 meters high vertical lift. Leaving the station in tree trunk themed state-of-the-art 8-passenger boats, riders can prepare for a splashy and fun filled experience on the 325 meters long water ride.Īfter the first drop right out of the station, riders get to enjoy a nicely themed floating section before arriving at a dead-end fast-moving platform which changes the floating direction of the boat from forwards to backwards. Toutatis is full of surprises and riders will have no time to take a breath while whizzing through this stunning layout guaranteeing more than one adrenaline rush. Besides the top speed of about 110 km/h, riders will experience a height of 51m and a total of 23 breathtaking airtime moments. This highly thrilling MULTI LAUNCH COASTER has a physical track length of over 1100 meters, whereas riders actually experience an impressive track length of almost 1400 meters. Toutatis is a completely unique coaster featuring seven LSM launches, five forward and two backward, all utilizing the strongest LSM launch system available on the market. If I remember correctly, Kanonen cost 6 Million USD at the time it was new.Parc Astérix now offers a new area called “Festival Toutatis” with an exceptional scenography that is in keeping with the spirit of a “Gallic Festival” in the middle of the Forest of Carnutes where the Gallic tribes come to celebrate their God Toutatis.
It's still out there somewhere, we'll just have to wait longer and see where it ends up. Kanonen would be an incredible addition to Darien Lake, at quite possibly the same cost.
I wonder how much Kanonen at Liseberg was sold for and how much shipping would've been to get it to Darien. It's an addition that might bring in more guests for one season, but I see the novelty wearing off quickly.Ī one-trick pony much like their last coaster addition, this boardwalk/mall-coaster is less than I was hoping for after the hype shown during the last press release. With Canada's Wonderland not that much further for residents of Buffalo, it's hard to see this coaster bringing in the Canadian audience they are hoping for. It's a low capacity coaster at a park that seems to be taking as many cost-cutting procedures as possible. This park, which seems to be slowly failing, will benefit in the short run with this addition, but overall I do not like the move. Darien Lake's general manager also explains that the new ride will improve and sustain audiences from Buffalo and Rochester, and also drive more tourism to Genesee County.It's likely Darien Lake will have a final answer from the town on whether to move forward with the project within a month.
